Thanks for your comment, Breanne. Teaching our children any character worth having is definitely hard work!

This is beautiful! I will likely implement this into a family home evening lesson. It's disheartening to hear my children complain; especially after cooking for 2 hours. What I started doing was having them help cook, while explaining that it hurts my feelings every time they complain after all the hard work I do. I did this with the laundry too. One of my boys would stomp his feet every time he had to put away a basket of clothes. So, I taught him to fold. It took my kids a month to learn to fold as well as I do but now when they come home to a folded basket of laundry they are grateful for the work I have done and say so. Teaching kids can be such a blessing. I love the question, "what if you woke up with only the things you thanked God for?" I am always encouraging gratitude in prayers. That is such a lovely way to put it. I am going to have to email you for that game.

I love the idea of having your kids say three things they are thankful for when they complain. I'm stealing that. We utilize a Thankful journal with our toddler and it has been great to record and look back over the things she has said. I know she'll love seeing all the funny things she put down when she is older. We also volunteer. I think helping others can be eye-opening for kids. Found you at Soul Survival. :)
