That is great addition. They have organic frozen strawberries as well. Great for smoothies when fresh berries are not in season!

I have tried to shop at our Aldi but I always find that their produce is pretty much you better eat it that day or it is going go off by in 1-2 days and isn't worth going shopping multiple times a week. We eat some organic but not everything!

Last year I contacted our local Aldi to find out if their sweet corn was GMO. They said it was not. I also contacted another local grocery, their produce manager said their sweet corn was GMO. I don't know if this will hold true for all areas, but I was thrilled to find a more affordable, will do in a pinch, source for sweet corn.
The local seed provider/farm cooperative in our area lead me to believe that there is a special process a farmer needs to go through to get GMO seed for sweet corn, so it isn't used in our area, yet. I only asked about sweet corn, not other corn types.

Thanks for this article. I stopped shopping at Aldi years ago when I moved to whole, organic foods and there was really nothing I could buy there. It's good to know they have some organic options now.

Actually, GMO sweet corn hit store shelves in 2012. This includes fresh, frozen, and canned. There is unfortunately no way to know which is which, so I don't buy it at all. Which is too bad, because my family likes corn. :(

If you are going to suggest people stay away from GMO then you should be aware of what types of corn are GMO and which are not. Sweet corn, the stuff you get fresh/frozen isn't GMO, there are breeding programs to make better varieties but people have been doing that before it was called breeding. Developing a GMO variety takes a lot of time and money and unless the crop is grown on a large scale (sweet corn is not) is isn't worth creating because the company will never get a return on their investment. Field corn, that which is turned into ethanol, fed to livestock, exported ect typically is a GMO variety. While I applaud that you actually care where your food comes from, be aware you might not know everything.
