Yes, I completely agree. Parents can't blame themselves for their children's choices. (I pondered that on an article about the prodigal child: https://www.imperfecthomemaker.com/2015/01/dear-mom-prodigal-child.html ) But at the same time it does sadden me to watch parents allow their teens to do whatever they please. I'm still not ALL that far away from having been a teen and I know how much direction and guidance I needed from my parents, even though I didn't always enjoy it. I hope and pray that our children's teen years contain more joy than they do heartache. Thanks for commenting! (I'll be sure to watch out for any articles you may write on parenting too. I appreciate so much the perspective of the parents who have been there and done that, but it seems like many bloggers these days are people like me who are still in the middle of figuring it out!)

Very good! I don't think for one moment that parents are to blame for adult children who go astray. But, everything you mentioned is right and will help that not to happen. I believe parents with kids sleeping under their roof have the authority to make the rules for their own home. Wonderful article. Enjoy your kids when they become teens. We did!

I agree with that also, Rachel! Have you read my article on the Prodigal Son? https://www.imperfecthomemaker.com/2015/01/dear-mom-prodigal-child.html

I read your article and agree with all you've said but in the end you do have to trust God with them.I've raised my children with these steps and godly principles. They come to a time in their life they do have to choose. It important for you to be the stability they can come back to if they fall. When they know what's right and choose what's wrong in spite of all you could do, and time and love you've invested in them, it just time to pray and stand firm to your faith and God's promises.
