I completely agree, Susan! I know all about living with hypothyroidism. In fact, I wrote an eBook last year entitled, <a href="https://www.imperfecthomemaker.com/store/farewell-fatigue" rel="nofollow">Farewell, Fatigue: How I Overcame Chronic Fatigue Syndrome the Natural Way"<a/>. Thanks for bringing all that up. So many women suffer with fatigue that don't have to!

Good article. Using an eye mask each night has been a great help to me and is nice for my husband, who likes a nightlight for safety, due to poor night vision. I want to add that *if* despite one's best efforts to sleep well: one has difficulty falling asleep due to racing thoughts or one startles awake in middle of night, or has difficulty getting up in the morning, or sleeps 8 hrs and is still ready for naps all day -- the thyroid should be checked. Yes, a full life can make you tired- but not that tired. Many people suffer from undiagnosed low thyroid and these are just a few of the possible symptoms. I suffered for at least 8 yrs w/daytime sleepiness & the docs kept missing it, because I was very healthy otherwise or they wanted to blame it on PMS! :/
Insist that your healthcare provider orders a full thyroid panel blood test- all the thyroid numbers are needed- to properly diagnose a thyroid condition. And if you have symptoms(Mayo Clinic has good info) and the numbers show your thyroid at the outer limits of normal - *insist* on a treatment trial. Many individuals function best at far different numbers within the range of normal. My undiagnosed low thyroid also caused low blood sugar symptoms each morning, yet took away my appetite. I also stayed thin/underweight for years while symptoms increased; a weight gain is more common and I did not gain until my numbers finally went just outside the acceptable levels just before I was finally given treatment 3 yrs ago.
I really think that a thyroid panal should be a standard health screening for all of us when we are young & active - maybe high school/pre-college or mid-twenties, so that we each know what are best numbers are. Life so much better with healthy thyroid levels! My husband calls my little, low dose of thyroid the "super energy pill".
