My 2 year old loves to "wash dishes" which is more just taking all the measuring cups out of the adjacent drawer and playing in a sink full of water. Or I'll have him wash the veggies (carrot, potato, etc) for some early dinner prep help. I always have to anticipate a shirt change after this activity and we have a "3 strikes-you're out" rule for spilling/splashing/dumping water outside of the sink (whether it's intentional or not). He also likes to sit on the floor and stack the empty plastic storage containers, or put LEGO bricks in a pot and make "soup." [We spend about half our school time at the kitchen table].

I have a 2 year old this year, too! Great ideas and reminders. One of my favorite ways to occupy my 2 year old is to give her a baby wipe and tell her to go clean. She very quickly gets started wiping toys, walls, desks and everything else within reach. She'll bring it back to me dirty and dry and it will have saved us a good 20 minutes of noise!

Your list sounds exactly like my list! I have a 2 year old and 3 other kids ages 4&5 (one is my daughter) that I teach during the week. He is a handful and always wants to be in everyone's business! Good advice about sometimes just not stressing too much about it and doing something else like watch youtube videos, otherwise we could be pulling our hair out at times! I also have a rebounder which he loves and is safe and fits neatly in the corner. He can go on that and jump anytime he likes! He also LOVES to paint, especially when he can make a huge mess! In the warm months anything to do with water will keep him occupied for long periods of time--scooping, squeezing sponges, "washing" dishes, using turkey basters, ping pong ball fishing with a noodle scoop, etc.
Really enjoyed your blog and your kids are so beautiful! Happy holidays!
