I do have a little rebel! She's the total opposite of what I was as a child. I've always been a quiet, follow the rules kind of person. My Charlotte is a wild, strong willed girl that reminds me of my own need for God's grace on a daily basis. I know that God has big plans for her and I pray that I would guide her to love Christ and love others.

I have a beautiful 7 year old that can be very helpful and loving. Other times he seems to delight in terrorizing his siblings. Suggestions for time out and discipline to avoid all out war and screaming from him. Also how to encourage siblings to not correct which sets him off too.

Great post and those points will work with a prodigal also. Our divorced son moved in with us for a while and those boundaries work on a grown man, modified a little. He has since returned to the Lord and remarried the mother of their two children. Again really good post.

This was very timely for me. In my case it's a college-aged daughter. She fully admits not wanting a relationship with Christ. She says she wants to do what makes her happy and has no problem with swearing or lashing out in anger. Still, I have seen God move in her life. I know now that we made mistakes while raising her, but I can't look back. I can only look to the future and pray for the Spirit to work on her heart. She is like the poem. When she is good, she is very very good... She is a straight A student and can be kind and funny. But when she is bad... We'll there is grace and forgiveness. Thanks for this article! It gives me some new ideas.

I need this post! I'm pinning it so I can come back to it later. I really love your idea of casting a vision and creating a plan to reach point B. And, of course, always remembering God's grace in my own life.

A friend of mine created a resource that would go well with this post. It's called The Child Training Bible (www.childtrainingbible.com).
