I used turbotax for the past three or four years per recommendation from my father. It made things easier, but at the end it would always charge me like $30-$60 for some reason! I can remember why, but I always remember thinking, “they say it’s free but they hit you with this charge after you’ve already input all your information.” It wasn’t necessarily for filing a specific type of tax, but I also don’t remember what the charge was for. I just remember being frustrated that it advertises itself as free, but wasn’t really. This year I’m trying a different software to see how that works for me.

When my husband worked as a physician and owned part in medical practice, we always had the office’s accountants do our taxes because they were pretty complicated. Last year, I decided to try to do them myself. I tried Turbo Tax. I believe we had to use the Business/Home Edition or something like that because he still has business ownership income he had to count. I really liked it. I was afraid it was going to be complicated but it was fairly easy. It did a really good job walking me through it and explaining everything. I was very pleased. I pln on using it again this year for our taxes. I did read that due to a security breach they would not be allowing people to file state taxes online. You can still file federal with turbo but not state. Have you heard any updates on this?

I used TurboTax for the first time this past Tuesday. We always had an accountant do it for us, but my husband kept telling me I was capable of doing it. It was very simple to use & I feel confident.

I got to file with the Absolute Zero! I was shocked! I’ve always used Turbo Tax, and so it would ask if I wanted to import my info from last year, I had to say no and fill in all my info again, but that saved me a good 30$ than normally filing my taxes would! I even had a 1098-T form, and 4 different W-2s, and didn’t have to pay for it – I was so excited! 😀
