Consider bartering for babysitting services. Do you have a skill a young woman would like to learn? I have one daughter who barters flute lessons for babysitting, and another who barters voice lessons for babysitting. What skill can you share? Music? Baking? Gardening? Sewing?

Thanks for the great ideas! Also… if you have money for the date, but not the babysitter… we have been sharing babysitting duties with our neighbor so that we both get the chance to get out: We take their kids one night a month, they take ours one night a month… Then, we can stay in, or, we can go out to a park, or dinner, or whatever -and we don’t need to pay a babysitter… It works out really well!

I used to set a picnic on the floor of the living room, blanket and all. We used to delve a little bit in the antiques/collectables business and we would sometimes read our books on it together, learn, research, eat etc. We loved it. Other times we would watch a movie or favorite show(Friday night was date night) or just eat and talk.
